Adderall is a prescription drug that includes 2 substances: amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. It is in a group of medicines called stimulants. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most prevalent condition for which it is prescribed (ADHD). Additionally, it is used to control narcolepsy.

For people with ADHD, Adderall is the drug of choice. Adderall and Adderall XR have been studied for their ability to improve attention and focus, as well as their ability to minimize impulsive behaviors. In the approved dosages, Adderall is considered to be safe for long-term usage. With sustained usage of the medication, many people report that common adverse effects such as lack of appetite, dry mouth, and insomnia have been minimized. Others may experience these adverse effects indefinitely.

Long-term use of Adderall or other stimulants may induce various changes in the brain, such as decreased dopamine levels. This appears to be more frequent in persons who misuse Adderall in high amounts. 

Adderall may cause some people to feel energetic, concentrated, excited, or self-assured, depending on their individual conditions. Feelings of euphoria can also arise from time to time. These side effects are more likely if the drug is used in the wrong way.
